S-A-T-U-R DIY: gift ideas

Christmas is just around the corner, which means that if you haven't already, it's time to start thinking about gifts. Cut back on holiday expenses by making some of your gifts this year. Knowing my friends and family, they'd appreciate the thought, energy, and love that went into their gifts than anything large or expensive. Except my older sister. She is the most difficult person to shop for because she is so particular. Most of the time I just give her cash or a Jamba Juice gift card.

But aside from that, everyone loves handmade gifts. Here's  few easy one to work on:

Make an easy leather passport holder, which can also be used as a wallet.

Here's an easy and meaningful gift to make. Take the lyrics from a song your know your friend likes and apply it to this easy art project.

I personally don't have the patience to make a blanket, but this can easily be used to make a scarf.

Take an old wool sweater or blanket (one you may already have or one from a thrift store) and make this easy wool wrap for anyone you know with a camera, digital or professional. Just do your research and figure out just how large you need to make the bag. Rather the bag be too big than too small.

I thought this idea was simply fantastic. It's so cute and personal. Write out a quick note to a loved one, and embroider it all on a piece of white linen to make it look like a page from a notebook.

Personalize a t-shirt, sweater, jacket, or any item of cotton clothing with some bleach designs. It can be something as easy as adding stripes, to adding intricate pictures. Know what your recipient likes, and get creative.

Although you can buy these decals on Etsy, where the seller also has some really cute lightening bolt decals, making it yourself is much more meaningful and fun. Threadbanger shows you how in this video.

Dinosaurs can be replaced with green army men, small wooden toys like tops, or even Lego's. Get creative with your pendants. Spray paint them a metallic color, screw on a small loop, and attach to a chain of the same color. Easy!
